The Science Station is the focal point for all scientific investigations carried out aboard the ship and has dedicated segments of the computer core and sensors independent of the navigational array to ensure maximum speed and accuracy of any assignment. All science labs on the ship and exterior probes feed directly in real-time to the ship's computer, so any scan of experiment can be terminated from here. Due to the complexity and ever-changing variables associated with this position, Science Officers must be specially trained in the use of this station. Each ship carries at least two officers with this training.
